Dr. Mayra S. Artiles is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering Education at The Ohio State University and an NSF CAREER awardee. Her research examines how doctoral engineering students navigate advising relationships, qualifying milestones, and institutional contexts, with a focus on the experiences of historically minoritized students. Through projects on servingness in Hispanic-Serving Institutions and the design of doctoral support models, her work informs how engineering colleges recruit, advise, and sustain the next generation of scholars.
We are a research group at Ohio State exploring how doctoral students — especially those from historically underrepresented backgrounds — experience advising, transitions, and belonging in engineering. We welcome motivated students to join us.
